Boiler service reminder software compared
Last updated 6 October 2026 · Prices checked 5 October 2026
If you want customers to rebook their annual boiler service automatically, there are two kinds of software to choose from: all-in-one gas engineer software that includes reminders, and reminder-only apps that do that one job. Here's how they compare, honestly.
What is boiler service reminder software?
Boiler service reminder software tracks when each customer's annual boiler service is due and automatically contacts them, usually by text message or email, so they book again with you. Boiler Service Reminder is an iPhone and Android app for plumbers and heating engineers that does this for £6.99 a month, and you can try it for free.
The short answer
- Need gas certificates, invoicing and job scheduling in one place? An all-in-one system makes sense, and reminders come as part of it.
- Already have a way to do certificates and invoices, and just want customers to rebook every year? A reminder-only app costs less and is quicker to set up.
How do the main boiler service reminder options compare?
| Product | Type | Price | Service reminders |
|---|---|---|---|
| Boiler Service Reminder | Reminder-only app | £6.99/month | Scheduled SMS reminders for annual boiler services are the core of the app |
| Gas Engineer Software (GES) | All-in-one: certificates, jobs, invoicing | From £18/user/month (Starter, billed annually) to £30 (Pro). Prices exclude VAT. | Email and SMS reminders are included from the Core plan (£23/user/month billed annually), not in Starter |
| GasPro | Gas and oil certificates, invoices and quotes | £7.99/month or £79.99/year | Email and SMS reminders for upcoming appointments |
| Gas Checker | Gas safety records and reports | From £8.99/month | Annual service reminders by SMS and email (plan not specified on the site) |
| Tradify | General trade job management | £34 to £44/user/month | Service reminders are on the Plus plan (£44/user/month) |
| Remindlo | Reminder-only service | Free (10 SMS/month), £19 (75 SMS), £49 (250 SMS) | SMS reminders for recurring services, working alongside your calendar |
Prices and features are taken from each provider's own website on 5 October 2026 and may change, and whether VAT is included varies between providers. Always check the provider's site before buying. We have no connection with the other companies listed.
Which should you choose?
Find the line that sounds most like you.
| If this sounds like you… | Look at | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You want to complete gas safety certificates and records digitally | GES, GasPro or Gas Checker | Certificates are what they're built for, with reminders as part of the package. |
| You run a team and need job scheduling, quoting and invoicing in one system | GES or Tradify | Team features and invoicing are included, but priced per user, and reminders sit on a higher plan. |
| You already have your certificates and invoices sorted and want customers to rebook every year | Boiler Service Reminder | It does only that, so there's little to set up and it costs £6.99 a month. |
| You want reminders for many kinds of recurring service tied to your calendar | Remindlo | It works with Google, Outlook and iCloud calendars and isn't limited to boilers. |
| You want the lowest cost, and boiler services are what you need reminding about | Boiler Service Reminder | The price is lower than the all-in-one tools, and the paid reminder plans we found cost more. Remindlo's free plan covers only 10 texts a month. |
| You want one system for everything and don't mind paying for it | GES (or Tradify for general trades) | You get one login for the whole business. |
Still unsure? Try the app first. It costs nothing to try, and you can compare it with whatever you use now.
When is all-in-one software the better choice?
- You want to complete gas safety certificates and records digitally.
- You run a team and need job scheduling, quoting and invoicing in one system.
- You want accounting integrations such as Xero or QuickBooks.
These products do a lot more than we do. If that's what you need, choose one of them. We don't do certificates, invoicing or job scheduling.
When is a reminder-only app the better choice?
- You only want the repeat business. Every boiler needs servicing every year. A reminder that arrives at the right time brings that work back to you and not to someone else.
- You want to avoid a new system. Add a customer and boiler after a job, set next year's date, and the text goes out on its own.
- You want a low, simple price. At £6.99 a month, a single booked service can cover many months of the app.
- You're a sole trader and don't want per-user pricing built for larger teams.
Can you use both?
Yes. Many engineers already use a certificate app or their own paperwork. A reminder-only app doesn't replace that. It adds the one job those tools tend to handle less well: making sure customers remember to book again.
Is a boiler service reminder app worth £6.99 a month?
As an illustration: if you charge £80 for a boiler service and reminders bring you 3 extra bookings a week, that is about 13 extra bookings a month, or roughly £1,040 of work against a £6.99 subscription. Your results will depend on your customers and how many you add. You can try the calculator with your own price.
What should you check before you choose?
- Which plan includes reminders? Several all-in-one products only include service reminders on a higher tier.
- Is pricing per user, and does it include VAT?
- How are text messages charged? Some services cap messages per month and charge more as you grow.
- Can you try it first? Look for a free trial or a free tier.
- Can you see exactly what your customer receives? A clear, friendly, personal message gets more replies than a generic one.
